Pre-mRNA is found in a 40S complex when that pre-mRNA undergoes ... yeast in vitro splicing. We propose that this particle be called a "spliceosome"

Welcome to the website of The snRNP Biochemistry and Structure Lab in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Oxford.

The lab pursues functional and structural studies of assemblies of RNAs and proteins involved in transcription and splicing of pre-messenger RNAs. We focus primarily on ribonucleoprotein particles assembled in the spliceosome from small nuclear RNAs (snRNAs) and associated proteins, which are affectionately known as snRNPs (or “snurps”).

We are generously supported by The Wellcome Trust and The Royal Society.
